Mahindra two-wheelers to increase focus on southern India
Mahindra Two Wheelers Ltd (MTWL) is looking for a greater presence in south India and plans to open 500 outlets in the region by 2015. The announcement made by the company at the recent inauguration of three new dealerships and one new outlet in Bangalore.
The new dealerships include Alfa Motors at Whitefield, Synergy at Basavangudi, MSR Motors at No. 1 Magadi Main Road and Esquire Motors at Marathhalli Bridge. Of the four new dealerships, Mahindra claims, the 2,500 sq ft Alfa Motors located at Whitefield and Synergy near Basavangudi are the largest. MTWL opening the dealerships in Bangalore is in line with the strategy to accelerate its penetration in the South Indian markets. MTWL's decision comes on the basis that its latest launch, the Centuro has been received well, with over 70,000 bookings within four months of its launch.
"Mahindra Two Wheelers is rapidly gaining market share in the highly competitive commuter segment with the introduction of the Mahindra Centuro. Our focus now is to expand the reach of sales and service across India. We already have a pan India 3S presence and will be increasing network width and depth to reach almost 2000 touch points by F15. This network will not only give customers access to our products and services easily but will also help us introduce our new products that are scheduled for launch over the next 30 months. The next 18 months promise to be very exciting as we journey towards market success," said Anoop Mathur, president - two wheeler sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.
By 2015, Mahindra plans to have around 500 outlets in south India. They are also in the process of finalizing its network partners. In an attempt to enhance the ownership experience they provide, the brands says that personnel at these new outlets have been provided with training in sales management, service, spare parts and business systems.
