Maruti Suzuki commences Jimny five-door production in India; launch soon
Maruti Suzuki has commenced the production of the long-awaited five-door Jimny at its Gurugram facility in Haryana, India. With this, it is safe to say that the five-door off-road SUV will go on sale in the country in the coming weeks. Maruti showcased the five-door Jimny at the Auto Expo 2023 in Delhi. Earlier this week, the Jimny achieved a milestone of 24,500 bookings. We expect Maruti to start the deliveries soon after the launch.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Dimensions
The Jimny, being a five-door model, is still a sub-four meter SUV. As a result, it measures 3,985mm in length, 1,645mm in width, and 1,720mm in height. While it has a wheelbase of 2,590mm, the ground clearance is 210mm. Meanwhile, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny competes against the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha in India.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Engine, transmission, and power output
Powering the Maruti Jimny gets a K15B 1.5-litre, inline four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine delivering 105PS and 134.2Nm of torque. This motor comes paired with a five-speed manual or four-speed torque-convertor automatic transmission. The brand has also equipped the five-door Jimny with its AllGrip Pro four-wheel-drive system.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Colours and Variants
The Maruti Jimny is available in choices of two variants: Zeta and Alpha. It comes with five mono-tone and two dual-tone colour options. While the list of mono-tone shades comprises Nexa Blue, Pearl Arctic White, Sizzling Red, Granite Grey, and Bluish Black, the dual-tone colour includes Kinetic Yellow with Bluish Black roof and Sizzling Red with Bluish Black roof.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Features
Maruti has outfitted the five-door Jimny with a bunch of features, such as LED projector auto headlamps with washer, a nine-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system, an Arkamys sound system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, fog lights, cruise control, Electronic Stability Program (ESC), ABS with EBD, six airbags, hill hold and descend control system, a multifunctional steering wheel, a rearview camera, powered ORVMs, and engine start/stop switch, among others.
