Maruti Suzuki Ertiga-based Toyota Rumion debuts in India
Toyota has, at long last, announced the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga-based Rumion MPV for India. The much-anticipated MPV is offered in a choice of three variants, namely S, G, and V, which is a typical naming structure of variants for Toyota vehicles. More importantly, the Rumion is available with a CNG version alongside the petrol unit. We expect the prices of the new Toyota Rumion to be disclosed in the coming months.
Toyota Rumion: Design and colours
Toyota has taken a fresh approach to the newer models, including the Rumion, in terms of design, which sets them apart compared to the older models that were merely re-badged Maruti Suzuki cars. The Rumion gets a fresh look. It is even reminiscent of the Toyota Innova Hycross. Its key exterior highlights include a redesigned grille, new front and rear bumpers, and a fresh set of alloy wheels. The India-spec Rumion comes with five colour schemes, Cafe White, Rustic Brown, Entycing Silver, Iconic Grey, and Spunky Blue.
Toyota Rumion: Interior
Inside, the interior features a dual-tone theme that is a blend of beige and black. Further, the MPV boasts a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, multifunctional steering, analogue cluster with an MID, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Toyota Rumion: Features
Toyota has fitted the Rumion with more or less the same features as the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. Thus, it comes equipped with Toyota i-connect with over 55 functions, cruise control, paddle shifters, seat belt reminder for all seats, four airbags, ABS, EBD, brake assist, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), hill hold control, Arkamys sound system, and projector headlamps, among others. Meanwhile, the Rumion offers a standard warranty of three years/1,00,000km, which can be extended to five years/2,20,000km.
Toyota Rumion: Powertrain
Powering the Rumion is a Maruti Suzuki-sourced 1.5-litre, inline four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 103PS and 137Nm of torque, while it makes 88PS and 121.5Nm in the CNG mode. The petrol unit can be mated to either a five-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission, whereas the CNG version is coupled to only a five-speed manual unit. Above all, the petrol motor gives out a fuel economy of 21.51kmpl, on the other hand, the CNG variant returns a mileage of 26.11km/kg.
