Maruti Suzuki Fronx CNG launched: Variants explained

Maruti Suzuki has expanded its growing CNG lineup with the new Fronx CNG. This crossover model is available in two variants: Sigma and Delta. The Fronx CNG Sigma is priced at Rs 8.41 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Fronx CNG Delta carries a price tag of Rs 9.27 lakh (ex-showroom). Compared to the standard petrol version, the newly launched CNG-powered crossover comes at a higher premium of just under Rs 1 lakh.

With the addition of the Fronx CNG, Maruti now offers15 CNG models. In fact, the automaker has achieved sales of over 1.4 million units for its CNG vehicles. Notably, Maruti Suzuki introduced the first CNG car in the country back in 2010. That said, here we have given a detailed and variant-wise feature list of the Fronx Sigma and Delta variants.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx CNG: Powertrain

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx CNG is equipped with two engine options. The first is a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated, Dual Jet, Dual VVT petrol engine that delivers 90PS of power and 113Nm of torque. It offers a mileage of 21.5kmpl with a five-speed manual gearbox and 20.01kmpl with a six-speed automatic transmission. The second option is a 1.0-litre, inline three-cylinder, turbocharged Boosterjet petrol engine that produces 100PS of power and 148Nm of torque. It provides a fuel economy of 21.79kmpl with a five-speed manual gearbox and 22.89kmpl with a five-speed AMT transmission.

In the case of the Fronx CNG, it is powered by the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which is paired only with a five-speed manual gearbox. This engine generates 77.5PS of power and 98.5Nm of torque. Maruti claims that the Fronx S-CNG offers a fuel efficiency of 28.51km/kg.
