Maruti Suzuki launch Baleno and XL6 with factory-fitted CNG kits
The new Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the new Maruti Suzuki XL6 will now feature the S-CNG system. Swift, WagonR, Dzire, Alto 800, Alto K10, Ertiga, Celerio, Eeco, and S-Presso are among the vehicles the firm sells with factory-fitted CNG variants; the inclusion of the Baleno and XL6 will be the first CNG options from the Nexa brand.
Prices for the CNG-powered Baleno start from Rs 8.28 lakh, going up to Rs 9.21 lakh while the XL6 CNG is priced at Rs 12.24 lakh.
The Baleno CNG's 1.2-liter, four-cylinder, K12N engine is the same as the conventional Baleno's, but it is tuned for CNG and generates 77PS and 98.5 Nm. The 1.5-liter K15C petrol engine that powers the XL6 CNG produces 88PS and 121 Nm of torque while running on CNG. Both cars are only available in a 5-speed manual transmission.
Only the mid-spec Delta and Zeta trims of the Baleno come with the factory-installed CNG kit from Maruti. Toyota, on the other hand, is anticipated to sell the Glanza CNG in three trims, including the highest-spec V trim. As a result, a Glanza CNG will probably be more feature-rich than a Baleno CNG at its upper end.
With features like LED projector headlamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, a 7.0-inch infotainment system with SmartPlay Pro+ system, voice recognition, connected car technology with OTA updates, a start/stop button, six airbags, and a rearview camera, the Baleno CNG in its Zeta trim is still fairly well-equipped.
With the exception of the CNG label, Maruti gave the XL6 a mid-life cycle facelift in 2022, however, there are no outward modifications to the MPV. The XL6 CNG's interior is identical to that of the gasoline-powered model. The 60-litre CNG tank that is kept here, however, compromises the boot room only a little bit.
The base Zeta trim is available for the XL6 CNG, as was previously indicated. Although it comes with features like push-button start, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, it is missing out on extras like a 360-degree camera, tyre-pressure monitoring system, and ventilated front seats, which are available on higher versions.
The Toyota Glanza CNG, will also follow in the Baleno's footsteps and be offered with a CNG kit soon.
