The Maruti Suzuki Swift has notched up another sales record, with over 25 lakh units being sold since the first-gen model launched in 2005. The Swift has remained a consistent best-seller for Maruti Suzuki and has remained among the top 10 best-selling cars in the country throughout. In August 2021, for example, 12,843 units were sold making it the fifth-best-selling car in India.

The Maruti Suzuki Swift garnered its first 5 lakh sales in 2010 with the 10 lakh milestone coming in 2013. The 15 lakh mark came in 2016, after which the hatchback's growth has been exponential. By 2018, 2 lakh units were on the road.

The third-gen Swift recently underwent a minor update. This saw the addition of the 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol motor that first debuted with the refreshed Baleno. This motor puts out 7PS more than the earlier motor with 90PS at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm at 4,400 rpm. This engine features start/stop functionality and pairs with either a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. Other mechanical updates include an updated electronic power steering setup for better manoeuvrability and larger disc brakes at the front and bigger drum brakes at the rear. The manual has a fuel efficiency figure of 23.20 kmpl while the AMT improves this to 23.76 kmpl.

The 2021 Swift now also comes with an updated list of features as well as more safety features like an electronic stability program in the AMT versions. There is also an optional contrast roof available in three combinations on the top ZXi+ variant: Pearl Arctic White/Pearl Midnight Black, Solid Fire Red/Pearl Midnight Black, and Pearl Metallic Midnight Blue/Pearl Arctic White.
