Mercedes-Benz confirm the arrival of the AMG A45 hatchback in India on November 17
Mercedes will reintroduce the AMG A45 S hot hatch on November 17. It was first shown at the Goodwood Festival Of Speed in 2019, and it has the potential to be one of the country's most powerful hatchbacks.
The A45 S's biggest selling point is, of course, its acceleration. Mercedes claims it is the world's most powerful four-cylinder production car, as its 2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, produces 422PS and 500Nm torque. The A45 S can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 270 kilometres per hour when equipped with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system.
The AMG A45 S has six separate driving modes that change things like driver assistance, torque numbers, gear shift timings and engine compression. Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus, Individual and Race are some of them.
360mm front and 330mm rear discs with red painted six-pot front and one-pot rear callipers increase braking performance. Depending on the driving mode, the steering rack has been re-engineered with a variable ratio and two alternative software maps. According to Mercedes, all of this is done to improve accuracy.
The AMG A45 S boasts the Panamericana front grille, wide wheel arches, aggressive bumpers with massive air intakes, roof-mounted spoiler, and quad exhausts that make a performance hatch look the part. The look is completed with 19-inch 5-spoke wheels.
The inside is mostly unchanged, with the exception of the dual 10.25-inch MBUX displays, which now show engine statistics and let you select driving modes. Sports front seats with black ARTICO man-made leather and DINAMICA microfiber upholstery, as well as stainless steel pedals, are among the other improvements.
While the Mercedes-Benz A45 S hot hatch is a welcome addition to India, it will almost certainly be a CBU import, implying a hefty price tag of over Rs 75 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
With the new Audi RS3 recently launched in international markets and no news of it coming to India, the AMG A45 won't have any direct competitors on arrival.
