Mercedes-Benz debuts the new V-class with major updates

Toyota unveiled the new Vellfire quite recently and while luxury Vans are getting very popular lately, there's not a lot to choose from. That's not the case with Mercedes though as the German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its latest MPV models, including the EQV, V-Class, V-Class Marco Polo, eVito, and Vito variants. These vans now showcase a lot more character on the outside as well as the interior unlike their predecessor which was very mediocre, to say the least.

Mercedes-Benz V-class: Design and Variants

The Mercedes-Benz V-Class preserves the conventional van silhouette, but not so usual are the improvements to the grille and head and tail lights, which seem modern and premium. The front and rear bumpers have been changed, and each EQV, V-Class, and V-Class Marco Polo model now has a unique radiator grille to distinguish it from the others.

With this upgrade, the automaker introduces more aerodynamic 17, 18 and 19-inch alloy wheel designs. The MPV's back aspect stays mostly unchanged, with minor revisions to the rear windscreen and tail light details.

There are several equipment lines available. The EQV now has an Avantgarde line, while the V-Class has four variants: an entry-level variant, Style, Avantgarde, and Exclusive luxury lines. Optional design packages include the AMG Line and the Night package (for the V-Class). A camper model of the Marco Polo is also available.

Mercedes-Benz V-class: Powertrains

While precise engine options are yet to be announced, it is anticipated that the new V-Class vehicles will maintain their current petrol and diesel engine options, maybe augmented with mild hybrid technology for increased economy. For comparison, the current electric EQV has a stated WLTP range of 363km. The previous global-spec ICE variant was powered by a 2-litre diesel engine mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox.

Mercedes-Benz V-class: Interiors

The dashboard has been totally redesigned to seem more luxurious and opulent. Like several of the other Mercedes passenger vehicles, the EQV, V-Class, and V-Class Marco Polo have two 12.3-inch widescreen screens. You may order the van with four or six seats inside, depending on your needs, although the four-seater version is the most luxurious on the interior.

Other amenities include wireless smartphone charging, keyless start, heated steering wheel, muted rear lighting for night driving, 64-colour ambient lighting, and a sliding door on the left side of the car as standard.

Attention Assist, Headlamp Assist with Rain Sensor, Active Distance Assist, Active Brake Assist with Cross-Traffic Function, Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Intelligent Speed Assist, and Park Package are among the new driver aid systems.
