Mercedes-Benz GLB and EQB India launch tomorrow: What should you expect?
German luxury auto major Mercedes-Benz is all set to introduce the GLB and all-electric EQB in India tomorrow. While the GLB will be available in a choice of three trim levels: 200, 220d, and range-topping 220d 4Matic, the all-electric EQB will be offered in a single version, namely the EQB 300 4Matic.
Mercedes-Benz GLB dimensions and features
To begin with, the GLB sits between the GLA and GLC in the Mercedes-Benz SUV lineup. It measures 4,634mm in length, 1,834mm in width, and 1,658mm in height (1,662mm in height for a seven-seat version). It has a wheelbase of 2,829mm. The key highlights include LED headlights and rear lights, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, and multi-zone temperature control, amongst others.
Mercedes-Benz GLB specifications
The GLB 200 is powered by a 1.3-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine making 165PS and 250Nm of torque. It can go from zero to 100kmph in 9.1 seconds and provides a top speed of 207kmph. On the other hand, the GLB 220d and 220d 4Matic come powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre inline-four diesel motor that produces 190PS and 400Nm of torque.
Mercedes-Benz EQB
The EQB is somewhat identical to its ICE version except for the EQ family-specific design elements on the exterior and interior. It features distinctive headlights, redesigned tail lights, front and rear bumpers, and a fresh set of wheels. Like the GLB, the EQB also comes with a 10.25-inch dual-screen setup, comprising a driver display and a touchscreen infotainment system.
Mercedes-Benz EQB range, battery pack, charging
The India-spec EQB will get a 66.5kWh battery pack coupled to two electric motors that generate 228PS and 390Nm of torque. The WLTP-tested travel range is rated at 423km. It can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in a claimed 32 minutes with a 100kW DC fast charger. Whereas, an 11kW AC Type-2 wall box charger takes six hours and 30 minutes for 10-100 per cent.
Mercedes-Benz GLB, EQB expected price
The Mercedes-Benz GLB should be priced between Rs 55 to 60 lakh, a large premium over the GLA due to it being locally assembled. If the EQS is anything to go by, Mercedes-Benz could price the EQB very similarly to the top-spec GLB at around Rs 60 lakh
