MG Astor launched at Rs 9.78 lakh

MG Motor India has announced the price of its mid-sized SUV 'Astor,' which starts at 9.78 lakh for the base 'Style' model and goes up to 16.78 lakh for the top 'Sharp' variant.

The MG Astor is MG's take on the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq. MG also claims that this is the first vehicle to offer AI assistant and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS).

Astor will be offered in four different versions: Style, Super, Smart, and the top-of-the-line Sharp.

The two engines on offer is a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated unit which will be available with a manual or an automatic transmission and a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol paired to an automatic gearbox. The 1.5-litre unit will produce 110PS and 144 Nm of torque, while the 1.3-litre turbo unit will put out a healthy 140PS and 220 Nm of torque.

The MG Astor's ADAS allows functions like Automatic Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Detection, Reversing assist, Lane Keep Assist among others.

All-LED headlamps and DRLs, leatherette upholstery, electric parking brake, tyre pressure monitoring system, 360-degree camera, heated ORVMs, steering weight adjustment through various modes, panoramic sunroof, and a massive 10.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are among the features available with the Astor's top-spec variant.

Six airbags, ABS, EBD, braking assist, ESP, traction control system, hill start aid, hill descent control, rear disc brakes, and other safety equipment are included in the Astor. The MG Shield will come with a three-year unlimited warranty, three-year roadside assistance, and three years of labour-free service. There is also the option to extend the shield to five years for a little fee.

The Style variant starts from Rs 9.78 lakh, while the Super and Smart variant starts from Rs 11.28 lakh and 12.98 lakh. The range-topping Sharp variant starts from Rs 13.98 lakh but if you do opt for the fully loaded Astor with all the bells and whistles, it will set you back Rs 16.78 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.
