MINI adds the ALL4 feature to two more models
2014 Mini Countryman ALL4
MINI has announced that the ALL4 all-wheel drive system will be available starting next month for the Cooper Countryman and Cooper Paceman. Both cars have a standard six-speed manual gearbox, with a six-speed automatic option.
The MINI Cooper Countryman and Paceman run on the same 121PS 1.6-litre petrol engine, also used in the two-wheel-drive variants of both models. The engine in the manual cars boasts of 160Nm torque and 190Nm in the automatic.

The ALL4 system increases the car's kerb weight by 70 Kgs, and uses an electro-magnetic centre differential to alter power between the front and rear axles as required. This allows it to direct torque quickly and exactly. The ALL4 is not just for manoeuvring on unfriendly terrain. The increased traction this system generates will also improve the Cooper's peppy feel, says MINI, giving the driver, a more pleasurable drive on normal roads too.
The automatic ALL4 models clock top speeds that are slightly slower than their two-wheel-drive equivalents, while manual ALL4 variants match up to their counterparts.

The ALL4 feature comes standard in the two other sports models â" the John Cooper Works Countryman and the John Cooper Works Paceman.
