Near-production Skoda Slavia spied ahead of early 2022 launch
Soon after Skoda India announced that its next mid-sized sedan foe India will be called the Skoda Slavia, a couple of test mules have been spotted that seem to be very close to the production-spec look of the sedan. More details are visible around the front fascia of the Slavia as well as along its profile.
2022 Skoda Slavia styling, dimensions
These images show that the 2022 Skoda Slavia will carry a familiar Skoda face, with the same angular LED headlamp design as seen on the Octavia and Superb. The wide butterfly grille is also present while the front bumper seems like a fairly simple unit with a central air dam and halogen fog lamps. The Slavia is noticeable longer and wider than the Rapid and is roughly the same size as the erstwhile Laura. The rest of the design seems to follow the traditional Skoda theme of crisp lines and subdued surfaces with some chiselling along the bonnet, a slightly raked roofline and a sculpted rear section that ends with what seems like two-part LED ailamps, again a nod to larger Skoda sedans. 2022 Skoda Slavia interiors, features, safety
Being based on the same MQB-A0-IN architectures as the Skoda Kushaq, expect the Slavia to offer a roomy interior with significant amounts of rear legroom. The dashboard and other components should see some carryover with the same 10.1-inch touchscreen, capacitive AC controls, steering wheel and instrument cluster to be expected. Other features from the Kushaq expected to trickle down here are wireless Android Auto/Apple Carplay, wireless charging, type-C USB charging, app-based connected-car features, a single-pane sunroof, climate control, ventilated front seats and 17-inch alloy wheels. The safety features should mimic the SUV too with six airbags and TPMS expected in the top version with standard stability control.
2022 Skoda Slavia engines, launch date, expected price
The lower-spec versions of the Skoda Slavia should come with the 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 110PS and 175 Nm. With a six-speed manual, the six-speed torque converter from the Rapid being offered. The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol is the same unit from the Kushaq that makes 150PS/250 Nm and pairs with a seven-speed DCT show come with the higher-spec versions. The larger engine should also get a different six-speed manual.
The Skoda Slavia is set to be revealed later this year with a launch slated for early 2022. Prices should range between Rs 10 to 15 lakh, ex-showroom and the Slavia will compete against the likes of the Hyundai Verna, Honda City and its Volkswagen twin, the Virtus.
