New BMW X1 launched in India; prices start at Rs 45.90 lakh
Bavarian automaker BMW has launched the all-new BMW X1 in India with prices starting at Rs 45.90 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom). The third generation SUV is now available in two trim levels, namely sDrive18i xLine petrol and sDrive18d M Sport diesel. Meanwhile, the brand has also introduced the electric equivalent of the X1, the iX1, in the country.
New BMW X1: Design
The new generation X1 bears new signature styling cues similar to the firm's other models, such as the 3 Series LCI. It gets a larger kidney grille, sharp and inverted L-shaped daytime driving lights, new J-shaped taillights, a spoiler, flap-type door handles, a slightly slanted roofline, and a fresh set of 18-inch wheels are the key highlights of the new German sports activity vehicle.
Further, it is available in a choice of five paint options: Space Silver, Phytonic Blue, Black Sapphire, and Alpine White (non-metallic), including M Portimao Blue, which is exclusive to the M Sport trim.
New BMW X1: Interior
The completely overhauled interior features minimalist and modern appearance. The cabin wears Sensatec artificial leather upholstery available in Mocha and Oyster schemes. Notably, the dashboard, which is draped in Sensatec, also adorns Pearl Chrome trim.
Moreover, BMW offers it with a single-piece curved panel, also known as BMW Curved Display. This setup comprises a 10.25-inch driver display and a 10.7-inch central information hub based on the BMW operating system 8. Other highlights include new sport seats, a centre console, and a floating-style armrest with an integrated gear selector.
New BMW X1: Features
The all-new BMW X1 boasts a variety of features, such as adaptive LED headlamps with high beam assist, LED taillamps, connected car features with the My BMW app, digital key plus with comfort access, parking and reversing assistants, powered front seats, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system (M Sport-only), six colours ambient lighting, welcome lights, dual-zone temperature, a wireless charging pad, front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, six airbags, and electric parking brake with auto-hold function, among others.
It is interesting to note that BMW has equipped the India-spec X1 with lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian protection, and dynamic cruise control with braking function.
New BMW X1: Powertrain
Powering the BMW X1 is a 1,499cc, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine generating 134PS and 230Nm of torque and a 1,995cc, inline-four turbocharged diesel motor that delivers 140PS and 360Nm of torque. Both units come mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The former provides an ARAI-tested fuel economy of 16.3kmpl, whereas the latter has an ARAI-certified mileage of 20.37kmpl. Meanwhile, the newly launched BMW X1 compete against the Mercedes-Benz GLA, Audi Q3, and Volvo XC40 in the Indian market.
