New Audi Q6 e-tron coming to India later this year
Audi has announced plans to introduce new vehicles in both the internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) categories. The company will be bringing several new models to India, with a focus on all-electric cars. Among these, the Q6 e-tron Performance rear-wheel drive (RWD) is set to arrive in the country by the end of this year, followed by other variants.
Audi is also expanding its EV lineup with the Q6 Sportback e-tron, a sleeker version of the Q6 e-tron, expected to share powertrain specifications with the standard model. Additionally, the new generation A5 and Q5, which will use Audi's new Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) for ICE vehicles, will be showcased in 2025. Audi plans to release over 20 new models by the end of 2025 and aims to electrify every model by 2027, with a capital expenditure of 41 billion euros set between 2024 and 2028.
Audi Q6 e-tron Performance RWD: Range, power output & charging
Coming back to the India launch of the Q6 RWD, this all-electric SUV sits below the 387PS Q6 e-tron quattro and 517PS SQ6 e-tron.
The Q6 e-tron Performance gets a 100kWh (94.9kWh net) battery pack and is coupled to a permanent magnet synchronous motor. It promises a WLTP range of 641km. In contrast, the Q6 e-tron quattro and SQ6 e-tron have a range of 625km and 598km, respectively.
The single electric motor in the Q6 e-tron Performance RWD generates a peak power output of 326PS. The entry-level trim claimed to achieve zero to 100kmph in 6.6 seconds. On the flip side, the Q6 e-tron quattro can reach 100kmph from zero in 5.9 seconds, while the latter takes only 4.3 seconds. They provide a top speed of 210kmph and 230kmph, respectively.
Its 800V charging architecture supports up to 270kW DC charging speed and up to 11kW AC charging speed. As claimed, up to 260km of range is claimed to be available in 10 minutes of charging at a suitable DC fast charging station.
If a charging station is capable of 400V supply, the Q6 e-tron can enable bank charging, says Audi. The 800V battery is automatically divided into two batteries at equal voltage, which can then be charged in parallel with up to 135kW. Depending on the state of charge, both halves of the battery are first equalised and then charged simultaneously. The Q6 e-tron's advanced recuperation system can recuperate at 220kW.
The EV has a boot space of 526 litres and a front storage space of 64 litres. The boot space can be extended to 1,529 litres when rear seats folded.
