New Bajaj Chetak variant launch soon
Rajiv Bajaj, CEO of Bajaj Auto where in his recent exclusive interview with CNBC-TV18 talked about its current line-up and also revealed about the new CNG-powered two-wheeler of Bajaj Auto. In this interview, Rajiv Bajaj also hinted at a new Chetak electric scooter variant launching this month. Not only that, he stated that there will be at least one new Chetak every year. For 2025, the Chetak e-scooter is expected to enter a new generation, as Mr Bajaj has already confirmed that there will be a new platform for the upcoming 2025 Chetak.
For now, it is said that Bajaj could launch an affordable variant of its Chetak electric scooter this month. This more affordable variant is likely to keep the same powertrain specifications as the Urban variant, but is likely to lose on some features as a tradeoff for the lower price. Currently, the on-sale Chetak offers an ARAI range of 113km with its 2.9kWh battery pack in the Urbane variant. Whereas, the Premium variant gets a 3.2kWh unit that provides a range of 127km, as per ARAI. The recently introduced Premium variant also boasts an increased top speed and an 800W charger.
When asked about Chetak's portfolio, Rajiv Bajaj, CEO of Bajaj Auto, said, "From 3,000 Chetak's a month this time last year, we are now at almost four times that number. We are also about to launch another Chetak this month. So for Chetak, the portfolio will be three scooters. There will always be at least one new Chetak every year. For sure, next year, we have something distinctly different, it's not just another refresh on the existing Chetak, but a new platform itself."
