New Bajaj Pulsar teaser out; likely to be Pulsar 400
Bajaj has released a teaser of the new Pulsar via its social media handles, hinting at the arrival of the new Pulsar 400. The all-new 400cc Pulsar has been one of the most long-awaited motorcycles for a past couple of years. In fact, the sub-500cc segment is growing rapidly as major bike makers have entered the arena lately, including Triumph, Husqvarna, and Harley-Davidson, with competitive pricing. This has created a stiff competition in the segment, irrespective of the body types. Not to forget, Bajaj already sells the Dominar 400, however, this roadster has never dominated the market.
New Bajaj Pulsar 400 Design
If the teaser is to go by, the upcoming new Pulsar will be a sporty-looking roadster motorcycle. It will likely to take inspiration from the recently launched NS and N series Pulsar models when it comes to style. Plus, there could be an angular fascia, a muscular fuel tank with the signature Pulsar lettering, split seat arrangement, and clip-on handlebar setup. The new Pulsar, going by the teaser, will feature a dual-tone colour scheme â" a combination of red and black with contrasting touches â" alongside several other shades.
New Bajaj Pulsar 400 Features and Specifications
As seen in the teaser, the new Pulsar will come equipped with upside down front forks and a monoshock, while the Europe-based Grimeca will provide braking hardware. It will come with a disc at both ends with dual-channel ABS. Other features could include all-digital display with Bluetooth connectivity, a slip-and-assist clutch, traction control, and ride modes, among others. Meanwhile, the new Pulsar is expected to use a new frame, sub-frame, and swingarm, resulting in reduced weight compared to the Dominar 400.
New Bajaj Pulsar 400 Engine, Gearbox, & Power Outputs
The new Pulsar 400 will likely retain the same 373.27cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine producing 43.5PS at 9,000rpm and 37Nm of torque at 7,000rpm, instead of the new 399cc LC4c unit, which now powers the new-gen KTM 390 Duke, Triumph Speed 400, and Scrambler 400X. However, the power output, gear ratio, and other factors could vary. Interestingly, the 373.27cc motor still powers the Dominar 400 and KTM 390 Adventure. It comes mated to a six-speed gearbox.
New Bajaj Pulsar 400 Pricing
Given the fierce competition in the segment, Bajaj could price the new Pulsar 400 between Rs 2.10 lakh to Rs 2.30 lakh. Currently, the Triumph Speed 400 is priced at Rs 2.33 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Bajaj Dominar 400 costs Rs 2.25 lakh (ex-showroom). On the other hand, the H-D X440 has been priced between Rs 2.39 lakh and Rs 2.79 lakh (ex-showroom). The KTM 390 Duke comes with a price tag of Rs 3.10 lakh (ex-show room), whereas the all-new Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 costs Rs 2.92 lakh (ex-showroom).
