New BMW R 1300 GS Adventure global debut soon

Just a few months on from the unveiling of the new BMW R1300 GS, the long-awaited R1300 GS Adventure version has been confirmed for a global debut on Friday, 5 July. BMW Motorrad recently posted a darkened picture on its social media handle, showing the front end of the upcoming adventure motorcycle.

BMW R1300 GS Adventure: What should you expect?

When the all-new R1300 GS was unveiled, BMW did not showcase the top-of-the-line Adventure trim. It was speculated that this version has been axed with the new generation model. In fact, the previous-gen R1250 GS Adventure was a success.

The new R1300 GS carries an outlandish look, moving away from the familiar styling and asymmetrical face of the R1250 GS. The teaser post from BMW hints at the new R1300 GS Adventure, as the motorcycle has a much wider bodywork, new auxiliary lights, and crash guards â" traits reminiscent of the previous Adventure model.

The headline feature on the upcoming R1300 GS Adventure could be BMW's new Automated Shift Assist (ASA). To put it simply, this is an automatic transmission similar to the Honda's dual-clutch automatic transmission used on its CRF1000L Africa Twin. The ASA removes the clutch lever, giving the rider the ability to select preset shifting schedules for different types of riding.

Given the R1250 GS Adventure was heavier than the regular GS, we expect the R1300 GS Adventure to tip the scales at just under 260kg compared to the current R1300 GS' 237kg. Unlike the stock model, the GS Adventure should get a much larger fuel tank with a capacity to hold at least 30 litres of fuel similar to its predecessor. Having said that, the new GS is lighter by 12kg than the previous one.

BMW is might bestow some additional features, lighter components, and special parts to the new GS Adventure.
