New BMW X3 M40i launched: All you need to know

BMW has launched the new sportier X3 M40i in India with prices starting at Rs 86.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The German automaker has brought the SUV here via the CBU route and will offer it in limited numbers. The X3 M40i sits atop in the X3 India line-up, which comprises X3 xDrive20d xLine and X3 xDrive20d M Sport. When launched, the X3 facelift was only available with the xDrive30i SportX Plus and xDrive30i M Sport trims. Notably, both these trims are no longer available.

New BMW X3 M40i: Powertrain

Powering the X3 M40i is a 2,998cc, inline six-cylinder twin-scroll turbocharged petrol mill generating 360PS between 5,200rpm and 6,500rpm and 500Nm of torque between 1,900rpm and 5,000rpm. This motor is married to an eight-speed steptronic sport automatic transmission. With this, the SUV can achieve 100kmph from a standstill in 4.9 seconds and tops out at 250kmph.

As compared, the new M340i powered by turbocharged six-pot develops 374PS between 5,500rpm and 6,500rpm and delivers torque output of 500Nm between 1,900rpm and 5,000rpm. The sporty saloon can hit zero to100kmph mark in just 4.4 seconds. Interestingly, the prices of the M340i start from Rs 69.20 lakh (ex-showroom).

New BMW X3 M40i: Design and Interior

The X3 M40i features all-black kidney grille, M-specific door sill plates, M model designations, and exhaust tips painted in black chrome. Further, it comes with a choice of two metallic paint jobs: Black Sapphire and Brooklyn Grey. BMW has equipped the SUV with a set of 20-inch alloy wheels as standard.

On the inside, the interior comes draped in a Sensatec artificial leather upholstery in Canberra Beige with Black and M trim finisher in carbon fibre. It also features a 12.3-inch driver display, 12.3-inch central information hub, wireless phone charging, 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

New BMW X3 M40i: Features

BMW has given the X3 M40i a raft of features, such as adaptive LED headlights, adaptive M suspension, M Sport differential, a panoramic sunroof, powered front seats with memory function, M-spec seat belts and pedals, a panoramic sunroof, six colours ambient lighting, three-zone temperature control, 360deg camera, heads-up display, and driving modes: Ecopro, comfort, sport, and sport+, among others.
