New gen Audi Q5 teased ahead of September 2 debut
Audi is gearing up for one of its most important launches in the coming days. The company teased a sneak preview of the third generation of the Q5, which is by far its best-selling model, and said the the car will be formally introduced on September 2, 2024.
The driver-side headlight of the new Q5 is seen in the only preview photo that Audi has released. But if spy shots are anything to believe, it also has a less curved roofline and comparable profile translates into more back headroom and load space. Though the rear license plate was shown to be higher on the new tailgate, the back end that we've had a glimpse of was heavily wrapped.
For the new Q5 and Q5 Sportback, Audi has utilised the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture. This is an enhanced version of the MLB Evo's architecture, upon which the outgoing Q5 is based.
Current-gen Audi offered in India
The Q5 will be equipped with the same dual-screen infotainment system as the latest A5. The free-standing Audi MMI panoramic display uses OLED technology and includes the Audi virtual cockpit with an 11.9-inch driver display and a 14.5-inch MMI central information display. We also expect there to be an optional 10.9-inch MMI front passenger display integrated into the dashboard.
New Audi A5 cabin for representation
Gernot Dollner, Audi CEO said "The Audi Q5 has represented the success of Audi for more than 15 years. With the third generation of our most successful SUV, we will now begin rejuvenating our SUV portfolio with efficient combustion engine models and hybrid versions."
Currently, the Audi Q5 is offered in India with a single 2.0-litre petrol engine and across 3 different variants - Premium Plus, Technology and Bold Edition and prices start from Rs 65.51 lakh (ex-showroom). Audi India still has to make any comment as to when the new Q5 will be coming to India.
Over the next two years, Audi intends to update its portfolio and will introduce 20 new models. The manufacturer takes one step further and declares that over ten of the upcoming models will be electric.
