New-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift bookings are now open in India
Maruti Suzuki has officially teased the fourth generation Swift ahead of its India premiere, which is expected on May 9. Maruti Suzuki has officially launched bookings for the 2024 Swift in the Indian market and interested customers may reserve the hatchback for a token amount of Rs 11,000 via the brand's website or authorized dealerships.
2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift: Design
Built on the Heartect platform, the new Swift is about 3,860mm long, 1,735mm wide, and 1,495mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,450mm. In terms of design, the upcoming Swift is likely to retain the pretty much the same look as the car sold in Japan just with a different set of bumpers and alloy wheels.
The hatchback still looks very reminiscent of the past Swifts making the design more evolutionary rather than revolutionary. The new grille and L shaped headlamps do give out a very upmarket appearance. The rear door handles, which were formerly positioned on the C-pillar, will be replaced with normal door handles.
2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift: Interior and Features
The Swift's interior is all new but a familiar space. The India-spec model will incorporate several elements from its older brothers, the Fronx and Baleno. It will have a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system, Arkamys audio system, wireless charging, LED fog lights, LED headlamps, automatic climate control, rear air vents, a Type C charging outlet, all four power windows, a height-adjustable driver seat and 6 airbags (as standard).
2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift: Powertrain
The biggest talking point about the new gen Swift has to be its all-new powertrain. Maruti Suzuki are set to bring the Swift with the 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated Z-series petrol engine which is good enough for 89PS and 113Nm of torque. We're still not quite sure whether the car will get the same mild hybrid tech that is offered in the Japanese model.
For transmission duties, we know that the 5-speed manual will be on offer. As for the automatic offering, we expect the AMT gearbox, but it would be interesting to see if Maruti Suzuki would rather launch the 6-speed torque converter with it.
With the addition of a considerable new features, expect the prices to be more than the current Rs 6.24 lakh (ex-showroom) base price. The new Swift will renew its rivalry with the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Tata Tiago upon launch
