New-gen Toyota Camry to launch in India on December 11

The current-gen Toyota Camry sold in India has been around since 2019. Toyota will be addressing that issue and the 9th generation of the Toyota Camry will be launched in India on December 11. The new car gets an all-new look on the outside, a revamped cabin and a hybrid powertrain.

New Toyota Camry: Exterior

The new Camry takes things up a notch in terms of designs as it looks extremely fresh and even though it doesn't look anything like its predecessors, it still has that Toyota flair to it. It still sits on the modular TNGA-K platform but the front looks a lot more appealing with a wider grille and sharper headlamps.

The wheelbase hasn't changed over the outgoing car but the overall length has increased and the new 18-inch alloy wheel design is a big welcome. The rear is pretty much an evolution of the previous-generation Camry with a few updates to make the car look 2024-ready including some new bumpers and Lexus-inspired tailamps.

New Toyota Camry: Powertrain

Powering the new Camry is the 2.5-litre four-cylinder which is further assisted by a hybrid motor. Globally the new Camry is offered with AWD but we expect the front wheel drive version to make its way to India. This powertrain is good enough for 225PS and has claimed 25 kmpl fuel economy.

New Toyota Camry: Interior

On the inside, the Camry will get an all-new dual-tone design and the 12.3-inch infotainment system taking centre stage. This system is further complemented by a 7-inch instrument cluster and an 8-inch HUD. The rear seats are going to be the place to be in the Camry as they are aimed to be chauffer-driven vehicles. Features list includes ventilation for all seats, individual climate zones, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a JBL sound system, a wireless charger and a whole suite of ADAS tech.

The new Camry will be locally assembled from imported kits at the Bidadi plant in Karnataka. Currently, the Camry is priced at Rs 46.17 lakh (ex-showroom) so we expect the price of the new car to be slightly closer to the Rs 50 lakh mark.
