New-generation Skoda Kodiaq and Superb teased
Skoda is all set to globally unveil the fourth-generation Superb sedan and the second-generation Kodiaq SUV later this year. Ahead of the unveil Skoda has teased the silhouette of the upcoming cars and while we are unsure about the Superb coming to India, the Kodiaq will most definitely make it as the first-generation model is still on sale here.
In the images teased by Skoda, not much can be made out save for the headlights. The teaser picture for the Kodiaq shows the SUV with an L-shaped LED headlamp signature and a smaller light signature below it. The SUV's taillights are also outfitted with C-shaped LEDs. At the back, the SUV appears to have a small spoiler as well.
The Superb seems to have similar headlights to the Kodiaq but the additional smaller light at the bottom appears to be missing. The rear too looks pretty similar to the SUV as well.
Skoda hasn't revealed any powertrain details but has specified that both cars will continue to get petrol and diesel options. Plug-in and mild hybrid options will also be made available at the time of the launch. Currently, the Kodiaq sold in India has a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. This engine comes mated to a seven-speed DCT gearbox producing 190PS and 320Nm of peak torque.
We're pretty sure the new Kodiaq will hit the Indian market next year but it would be a surprise if the new Superb which has long been a segment leader in India, makes a comeback. Skoda has stated that the Superb will be manufactured at the Volkswagen Group factory in Bratislava, Slovakia. The Kodiaq will be made in Skoda's plant in Kvasiny, Czech Republic.
