Hero MotoCorp has teased the upcoming new 160R again ahead of its launch on 14 June, 2023. The naked bike will feature a fresh look, updated hardware, and above all, a new engine. Upon launch, it will compete against the TVS Apache RTR 160 and Bajaj Pulsar N160.

New Hero Xtreme 160R: New Engine

While the on-sale Xtreme 160R gets a 163cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor producing 15.2PS and 14Nm of torque, the new Xtreme 160R will be powered by a new four-valve setup. This could improve its performance. Compared to two-valve setup, the four-valve unit allows more airflow thanks to the more space for the air when the valves open. At higher rpm, this also results in better top end power.

Hero had previously updated the XPulse 200 and XPulse 200T with a four-valve setup. In fact, the upcoming Xtreme 200S 4V will also feature a four-valve engine. With this, all 200cc motorcycles from Hero will be equipped with four-valve engines. Meanwhile, this motor is likely to be coupled to a five-speed gearbox. Further, it will also meet the new BS6 phase-2 (OBD.2) emissions regulations and would run on E20 fuel.

New Hero Xtreme 160R: Specs

Another biggest change, as seen in the most recent teaser, in the new Xtreme 160R will be the new upside-down front forks instead of conventional telescopic setup. Whereas, it will carry a rear monoshock. On top of that, the naked bike should come with a single-disc brake at both ends, and single-channel ABS. Apart from that, Hero is likely to offer an updated instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity.

New Hero Xtreme 160R: Prices

The new Xtreme 160R 4V is available in choices of four variants. While the prices of the bike start from Rs 1.18 lakh and 1.29 lakh (both ex-showroom, Mumbai), the upcoming Xtreme 160R 4V is likely to attract a higher premium.
