New Hip Hooligan - Husqvarna Svartpilen 801 revealed
Husqvarna has just revealed the Svartpilen 801, a lightweight twin with adjustable suspension and modern electronic aids, globally. The Svartpilen 801 is based heavily on the KTM 790 Duke platform and will share most of its underpinnings with its Austrian equivalent, albeit with aesthetic differences.
The Svartpilen 801 is powered by the same 105PS, 799cc, parallel twin engine that powers the KTM 790 Duke. This engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and comes equipped with with a bi-directional quickshifter as standard fitment. The Svartpilen 801 weighs in at 181kg dry and is suspended by WP Apex suspension at either end. The 43mm open cartridge fork is fully adjustable for compression and rebound, while the shock has with spring-preload along with rebound damping adjustment. The bike comes standard with Bluetooth connectivity with turn-by-turn navigation, a quickshifter, traction control and corner-sensitive ABS brakes. The Optional Dynamic Pack on offer introduces ten levels of slip adjustment and five levels of anti-wheelie, and cruise control.
In terms of design, the Svartpilen 801 stays away from the aggressive aesthetic of its Orange counterpart offering a familiar distinctive, minimalist, and scrambler-inspired design that's in tune with the smaller capacity Svartpilen 401 model. This includes unique LED lights, aluminium handlebars, and striking colours. The ergonomic bodywork tightly shrouds the engine and frame to allow full riding movement while the 17-inch wheels are fitted with dual-purpose Pirelli MT60 RS tyres.
Unfortunately, there currently are no medium-large-capacity, KTM or Husqvarna models available in India and there aren't any foreseeable plans to get them across to here over the horizon, so you wouldn't want to hold your breath till the Svartpilen 801 gets here.
