New Honda HR-V makes debut in Malaysia, expected to come to India later in 2022
In Malaysia, the Honda HR-V SUV was officially debuted for the 2022 model year. By July, the new SUV will be available for purchase at dealerships around Southeast Asia.
In countries such as Indonesia and India, Honda has plans to expand its SUV lineup. The HR-V has been discussed in India for a long time, but no official announcement has been made.
In terms of equipment and features, the 2022 HR-V comes standard with Honda Sensing, an 8-inch central touchscreen and auto LED headlights. While the Grade S, E and V trims have single-zone air conditioning, the RS has dual-zone air conditioning. All variants include rear AC vents.
There are 2 wheel options available. The lower-spec S and E trims have 17-inch alloy wheels, while the higher-spec V and RS trims have 18-inch wheels.
The hybrid Honda HR-V uses Honda's i-MMD technology, which is also found on the hybrid version of the City sedan offered in India. Two motors are combined with a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated Atkinson cycle engine. This system's overall output was measured at 131 PS and 253 Nm of torque.
The car also features other variations of the 1.5-litre engine for the lower trims. There are certain rumours regarding the new Honda HR-V coming to India to compete in a very competitive market.
This will be a huge upgrade for Honda India keeping in mind their huge drop in vehicle sales number in the country.
