New Kia Carnival spotted undisguised in India
The new Kia Carnival has been sighted in India without any camouflage ahead of its festive launch in 2024. The fourth-generation vehicle, known as the Kia KA4 in some global markets, debuted at the 2023 Auto Expo in India. Pricing information has not yet been revealed, but the revised model is expected to cost between Rs 32 lakh and Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
New Kia Carnival: Design
The new Carnival has a completely new appearance up front, drawing inspiration from the EV9, with a new larger grille flanked by vertically stacked LED headlights and L-shaped DRLs. The bumper has a tiny air inlet enclosed by a fake brushed aluminium skid plate. The MPV can be seen riding on some new 18-inch alloy wheels.
The slim rectangular tail lights have been replaced by new L-shaped units that are coupled in the same way as the facelifted Sonet and Seltos models. Despite these alterations, several design aspects remain unchanged, such as the distinctive patterned panel on the C-pillar, the wraparound rear spoiler, and the body cladding on the bottom borders.
New Kia Carnival: Powertrain
The Carnival is available internationally with three engine choices. These include a 3.5-liter gasoline V6, a 1.6-liter turbo-petrol hybrid, and a 2.2-liter diesel. The model for India is anticipated to retain its predecessor's 200PS/440Nm, 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine and automatic transmission.
New Kia Carnival: Interior and Features
On the inside, the amount of buttons on the centre console has been reduced. It gets the same temperature control touch panel as other contemporary Kia vehicles. The dual-screen display is part of an upgraded infotainment system, and yellow highlights on the dashboard and front door cards are noticeable.
The Carnival is available in three sitting configurations, depending on the variant: four-seater, seven-seater, and nine-seater. The new Carnival is offered in six exterior colour schemes: Ivory Silver, Snow White Pearl, Astra Blue, Pantera Metal, Aurora Black Pearl, and Ceramic Silver. The interior may also be customized in three other colours: taupe, navy grey, and cotton beige.
The new Carnival comes with extra amenities, including a dual display configuration with two 12.3-inch panels for infotainment and the instrument panel, a head-up display, OTA updates, Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA2) along with the ADAS suite, and eight airbags. Air purifier, wireless charging, ambient lighting, driver's Ergo Motion seat, digital IRVM, multi-zone temperature control, and back entertainment package with a 14.6-inch HD screen are all included.
New Kia Carnival: India Launch
The new Kia Carnival will take on the Toyota Innova Hycross in the Indian market which is priced at Rs 19.77 lakh to Rs 30.98 lakh (ex-showroom). Although the Carnival will be a slightly more premium offering, for its price the Hycross is its only closest competitor. Toyota does offer the Vellfire in India at Rs 1.20 crore (ex-showroom) but that will be a far higher playground for the new Carnival.
