New KTM 390 Adventure spotted testing again: What do we know so far?
The new-generation KTM 390 Adventure was recently spotted undergoing tests in India, hinting at substantial changes coming to the adventure tourer in line with the all-new KTM 390 Duke. The upgrades will likely be in the form of a fresh and radical design, new chassis, new electronics, and more importantly, a new engine. Here, we will shed some light on each aforementioned aspect and changes this generational update will bring to the ADV.
New KTM 390 Adventure: Design
To start with, the upcoming KTM 390 Adventure, as seen in the spy pictures, will feature a new design language, resulting in a meaner appearance similar to the recent top-run Dukes. It will also draw some inspiration from the brand's Dakar Rally motorcycles, especially the face, which will get a tall windscreen, a headlamp and DRL setup similar to the new 390 Duke, a high-set fender, chunky angular grab rails, a single-piece seat, a new taillamp, and wire-spoke wheels. Going by the pictures, KTM could equip the ADV with an off-set rear monoshock like the new 390 Duke. Not to forget, it could benefit from a new trellis frame, a new sub-frame, and a new swingarm.
New KTM 390 Adventure: Features and Specifications
The Austrian bike maker is anticipated to bestow the next-gen 390 Adventure with a range of electronics, such as a new five-inch colour TFT display with smartphone connectivity, ride modes, traction control, switchable dual-channel ABS, fully adjustable upside-down forks and rear monoshock â" both with longer travel, ride-by-wire, bi-directional quickshifter, and a slip-and-assist clutch, among others. Meanwhile, it could borrow the 320mm front disc with a four-piston radial fixed calliper and a 240mm single disc with a two-piston floating calliper from the new 390 Duke.
New KTM 390 Adventure: Engine
The crux of the all-new 390 Adventure will lie in its powertrain, which it will likely be the 399cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled LC4c engine producing 46PS at 8,500rpm and 39Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. This will be paired with a six-speed gearbox. However, KTM is expected to rework this motor to make it suitable for the 390 Adventure and possibly overcoming a drawback of the on-sale model â" a lack of low-end torque.

Upon launch, it will take on the new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 (Rs 2.16-2.28 lakh, ex-showroom) and BMW G 310 GS (Rs 3.30 lakh, ex-showroom).
