New Maruti Suzuki Swift vs Hyundai Grand i10 Nios: What is different?
The new Maruti Suzuki Swift brings significant updates across the board, especially the powertrain. However, it misses out on a host of features, a mild hybrid engine, and a CVT transmission that is available with the international-spec model. Nevertheless, how does it stack up against its Indian rival, the Grand i10 Nios. Let us find out.
Prices (ex-showroom)
The price of the new Maruti Swift starts at Rs 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 9.65 lakh (ex-showroom). Whereas, the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios prices range between Rs 5.92 lakh and Rs 8.56 lakh (ex-showroom). While the prices of the Swift AMT start at Rs 7.80 lakh (ex-showroom), the prices of the Grand i10 Nios AMT start at Rs 7.43 lakh (ex-showroom).

Both the Swift and Grand i10 Nios bear the identical wheelbase and height. However, the Swift is longer and wider than its rival, the Grand i10 Nios.
Features
The Swift gets LED projector headlights, LED fog lamps, a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with SmartPlay Pro+, an analogue instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch MID, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, electronically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, USB Type-C and Type-A ports, six-speaker Arkamys sound system, wireless charging pad, Suzuki connect with over 40 features, cruise control, hill hold assist, six airbags, Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), rear view camera with rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, and three-point seat belts and reminders for all passengers.
On the other hand, Hyundai has given the Grand i10 Nios halogen projector headlights, dual-tone interior, footwell lighting, wireless charging pad, eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, electronically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, cooled glove box, USB Type-C and Type-A ports, automatic headlights, cruise control, engine start/stop button, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, among others. In terms of safety, the hatchback gets six airbags, ESP, hill hold assist, ABS with EBD, TPMS, three-point seat belts and reminders for all passengers.
Powertrain
The new Swift comes powered by a new Z12E 1.2-litre, inline three-cylinder, naturally aspirated engine petrol engine mated to a five-speed manual and an AMT transmission. This engine produces 81.58PS and 111.7Nm of torque. On the flip side, the Grand i10 Nios gets a 1.2-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol Kappa motor that makes 83PS and 114Nm of torque. This engine is coupled to a five-speed manual and and AMT.
