New Mercedes-Benz E-Class India launch on 9 Oct: What should you expect?
German automaker Mercedes-Benz has set the stage to launch the all-new E-Class Long Wheelbase in India on 9 October. Originally revealed in April 2023, this sixth-generation saloon introduces a fresh design, a tech-focused interior, and updated powertrain options.
New Mercedes-Benz E-Class Design
Built on Mercedes-Benz's Modular Rear Architecture (MRA), the new E-Class features an improvement in aerodynamics and has larger dimensions. There is also a new Nautic Blue paint job.
It retains the elegant character but borrows some styling cues from its siblings, such as a wider grille with illuminated surrounds, sleeker headlights and new daytime driving lights, and a longer bonnet. The sedan now includes flush door handles similar to the S-Class. At the rear, the E-Class has split taillights with triangular elements. There are also new designs for the wheels. For the first time, the E-Class boasts a rear-wheel steering system.
New Mercedes-Benz E-Class Interior
Inside, the new E-Class has a plush and minimalist cabin inspired by the EQS. The dashboard features small air-con vents with digital control system, and a large MBUX Superscreen, with a floating digital driver display. Then, there is a Burmester 4D surround sound system, four-zone temperature control, a digital key, and AI-driven routines for automatic AC and heating settings. More importantly, the E-Class debuts Level 4 autonomy with an optional driverless valet parking feature, available in regions where regulations permit, for example, Germany.
Mercedes-Benz has equipped the E-Class with an in-cabin camera for clicking selfies or attending meetings through the Zoom or Webex apps. However, for the safety of the passengers, it cannot be used when the E-Class is on the move.
New Mercedes-Benz E-Class Engine Specifications
The new E-Class is powered by mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain options. These engines offer slightly more combined output because of a gearter electric boost. The range includes 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, while the range-topping variant will feature an electrified six-cylinder engine. All engines are mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission.
New Mercedes-Benz E-Class Price
While the outgoing E-Class is priced between Rs 76-89 lakh, we expect the new model command a higher premium of about Rs 4.6 lakh. Thus, the new price could start at Rs 79-81 lakh and go up to Rs 85-86 lakh.
