New Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 launched at Rs 1.41 crore
Mercedes-Benz India has introduced the new EQS 580 India, after the success of the EQS saloon, at Rs 1.41 crore (introductory, ex-showroom). It will be producing the all-electric SUV at its plant in Chakan, Maharashtra like the EQS saloon. In fact, India has become the only market outside the United States of America to locally produce the new EQS SUV. That said, the new EQS 580 is now available is a variety of paint jobs and personalisation options for the customers.
Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 Highlights
The new EQS SUV is 5,130mm in length, a 1,955mm in width, and a 1,727mm in height with a wheelbase of 3,200mm, which is identical to its saloon sibling.
The EQS SUV has all the bells and whistles as any other top-rung Merc, such as 56-inch display (The Hyperscreen) comprising three screens, 21-inch AMG alloy wheels, powered and massage functions for front seats, adjustable rear seats, headrests cushions, multi-zone temperature control, noise cancelling headphones in the rear, air suspension with adaptive damping system, Burmester sound system, rear-axle steering with a steer angle of 10-degree, and ADAS.
Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 Range & Power output
Internationally, the EQS SUV comes in two powertrain options: the 450+ and 580 4Matic. The base trim gets a single motor producing 355PS and 568Nm of torque, while the rage-topping trim, which is available in India, features a dual motor setup, means an all-wheel drive, that makes 536PS and 858Nm.
With a 122kWh battery pack, it promises an ARAI range of 809km but Mercedes says that it can deliver a real-world range of up to 650km based upon its tests carried out in Pune. Moreover, the EQS 580 can go from standstill to 100kmph in 4.7 seconds. Using a DC fast charger, the EV can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in 31 minutes.
At the launch, Mercedes-Ben revealed that it has sold over 500 units of the EQS saloon in India since its market launch. Plus, the EQS Maybach has received more than 50 bookings in the country in less than a week of its announcement. The brand has invested Rs 200 crore for its facility in India and currently sells six luxury electric vehicles (EVs) in the market.
