New Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 variants, colours, and specifications explained

The global debut of the all-new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is just around the corner. It will arrive on 7 November, 2023, bringing in an all-new liquid-cooled engine, a fully digital colour TFT display, and other notable features that are a first for a Royal Enfield motorcycle. Here we shed some light on its specifications, variant details, and colour schemes.

New Royal Enfield Himalayan: Variants and Colours

To begin with, the all-new Himalayan 450 will be available in three variants, namely Base, Pass, and Summit. Like the other Royal Enfield motorcycles, it will come with various paint options depending on the variant. For reference, the Himalayan 450 Base variant gets a Kaza Brown shade, while the Himalayan 450 Pass comes with two shades: Slate Poppy Blue and Slate Himalayan Salt. The range-topping Himalayan 450 Summit variant can be had in Kamet White and Hanle Black.

New Royal Enfield Himalayan: Powertrain

Powering the upcoming Himalayan 450 is a new "Sherpa 450" 451.65cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled DOHC engine mated to a six-speed gearbox. This motor makes 40.02PS at 8,000rpm and 40Nm of torque at 5,500rpm. In comparison, the KTM 390 Adventure makes 43.5PS at 9,000rpm and 37Nm of torque at 7,000rpm, while the BMW G 310 GS produces 34PS at 9,250rpm and 28Nm at 7,500rpm.

New Royal Enfield Himalayan: Features and specifications

The new Himalayan 450 boasts ride-by-wire, a four-inch colour TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, dual-channel and switchable ABS, slip-and-assist clutch, all-LED lighting, turn indicator with integrated taillamps, Google Maps support, a USB Type-C port, and three ride modes.

Royal Enfield has equipped it with 43mm Showa upside-down front forks and an offset linkage-type rear monoshock â€" both offer 200mm wheel travel. Not to mention, the ground clearance stands at 230mm. Additionally, there is a 320mm front disc with a dual piston calliper and a 270mm rear disc with a single piston calliper. The new Himalayan 450 comes fitted with 90/90 21 section front tyre and 140/80 R17 section rear tyre from CEAT. Meanwhile, the kerb weight of the new Himalayan 450 is rated at 196kg (90 per cent fuel and oil). It has a fuel tank capacity of 17 litres.

New Royal Enfield Himalayan: Pricing and Competitors

We expect the all-new Himalayan prices to start from around Rs 2.50 lakh. Upon launch, it will rival the likes of the KTM 390 Adventure and BMW G 310 GS.
