Next-gen SX4 sedan being readied for India
Originally launched in 2007, Maruti's SX4 sedan has been successful but in its segment is now amongst the oldest cars. So when we spotted the SX4 crossover in the Suzuki stand in Geneva we were obviously excited. The Indian SX4 was based on the eponymous European hatch and we believe the next all-new SX4 will be based on this - see our artist's impression below of what the new sedan might look like. The car is likely to be larger than the current SX4, and by extension the competition, and it will have a completely new cabin design just like all of the recent Suzukis. We further expect the same 1.6-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engines to power the Indian car, with minor updates. The new SX4 is expected to roll out in India and North America by the end of this year or early 2014, by which time Honda is also expected to have the new City out. However, the word on the street is that there may be a facelifted SX4 that will debut very shortly before the full-on new car arrives.
