Nissan Qashqai gets refreshed look and more tech for 2024
The Nissan Qashqai has been given a strikingly fresh look to bring it in line with the electric Ariya, improve the car's fuel efficiency, and solidify its place as one of Europe's most popular vehicles. Nissan has sold 350,000 Qashqai cars in Europe during its history, and the company hopes that this new model will maintain that success.
2024 Nissan Qashqai: Design
The most noticeable modification is to the front appearance, which ditches the v-shaped chrome grille and the strange tuning-fork-shaped headlamp and DRL combo. In its stead is a larger and more aesthetically pleasing mesh grille inspired by ancient Japanese soldiers' chainmail armour, concealed headlights, and ultra-slim DRLs. Nissan has also stated that the upper light strips double as turn indicators with a sequential function.
The back tweaks are gentler, but they feature a new set of rear LED lights and a reworked bumper with a more aggressive bottom part aimed to give the Qashqai a sportier appearance. That's enhanced if you buy the new N-Design grade, which includes colour-coded body trim and 20-inch wheels in place of the standard 18s and 19s. Pearl White, Pearl Black, and Deep Ocean are the new colours available, with two of them (save the black) including a two-tone roof.
2024 Nissan Qashqai: Powertrain
The Qashqai will only be available with electrified powertrains that incorporate the e-Power system, which drives the front wheels via an electric motor rated at 190PS and 330Nm of torque. The motor is powered by a 1.8 kWh battery, which is charged only by a 1.5 litre turbocharged inline-three variable compression petrol engine producing 156PS.
Aside from the e-Power system, the SUV may also be equipped with a 1.3 litre turbocharged inline-four petrol engine enhanced by a 12-volt mild hybrid system. This engine produces 140PS and 240Nm or 160PS and 270 Nm and comes with either a six-speed manual or CVT transmission; all-wheel drive is available.
2024 Nissan Qashqai: Interior
The interior changes are more minor, with new dashboard and centre console finishes, as well as new upholstery patterns, ambient lighting, and Alcantara accents on higher-spec versions. The most significant update is a fresh new infotainment system built on Google's Android Automotive OS, which includes Google Maps and Google Assistant. The visuals on the 12.3-inch central touchscreen and digital instrument panel have also been updated.
Every new Qashqai will include additional safety features than previous models, such as driver fatigue attentiveness alert, autonomous emergency braking, emergency lane-keeping assist, and accident data recording.
