With the EV market on the rise, we are expected to see a new player in the game in the form of Chinese smartphone producer Oppo. Reports suggest that Oppo are expected to launch its first lineup of electric vehicles in India by the end of 2023 or early 2024.

Along with Oppo, its sister companies Realme, OnePlus and Vivo, have also submitted trademark applications for electric vehicles. These firms might introduce a variety of EVs, including electric automobiles and electric two-wheelers if they work together. The trademark names 'realme TechLife' and 'TL Device' has also been approved for Realme.

Oppo's plans for electric vehicles are already in the works, according to the recent rumour, with a debut date set for the end of 2023 or early 2024. Oppo hasn't said what type of electric vehicles its costumes should expect yet.

Oppo has already begun work on its electric car production, according to reports earlier this year, and the company's CEO Tony Chan has met with battery makers and components suppliers for US-based tech giants, Tesla.

Oppo and its subsidiaries will face its smartphone competitor Xiaomi, as Xiaomi is also contemplating a major foray into the electric vehicle market in India. In overseas markets, it already sells portable electric scooters. It intends to begin mass production of electric vehicles in the first half of 2024.

In March of this year, Xiaomi declared its intention to enter the electric vehicle industry and invest 10 million US dollars over the following ten years.
