Pininfarina PURA Vision breaks cover as the brands upcoming SUV
Automobili Pininfarina unveiled its long-awaited SUV, or electric Luxury Utility Vehicle (e-LUV), as the company prefers to call it. The design of the Pura Vision foreshadows what is to come from the brand in the future, as it introduces the company's Pura design philosophy. Along with the previously disclosed Battista Edizione Nino Farina super GT and another new production vehicle, the concept will make its worldwide premiere.
Pininfarina PURA Vision: Design and Dimensions
The concept is 5,215mm long, 2,147mm wide, and 1,641mm height, giving the appearance of a massive vehicle. The long hood with creases that run into the flared and curved fenders on the sides defines the strong front. The headlamps are buried behind the long hood in a panel, while the bottom half is separated into three pieces for cooling and aerodynamic performance.
The PURA Vision's cab-rear posture is obvious in profile, as are its low overhangs and 23-inch matte black alloy wheels. Large, curving single-piece side windows gullwing style hinge upwards, while the rear doors hinge rearward to produce a pillarless entrance into the cabin.
The door is made up of three pieces. Pininfarina calls them tri-opening Lounge Doors, and they were inspired by the Lancia Florida Sedan, which Pininfarina's creator Battista Farina took inspiration from. Base doors open horizontally and have a suicide door in the back. While the upper portion of the door opens in the manner of a gullwing door.
When seen straight from the back, the muscular aspect of the PURA Vision truly stands out. The sculpted carbon fibre bumper is forceful, and the glasshouse windows that slope down perfectly into the body emphasise its haunches even more.
Pininfarina PURA Vision: Cabin
The cabin features a 2+2 sitting layout and a design inspired by magnificent sailing ships. The front seats' core is supported from underneath, giving them the impression of floating over the ground. The automobile also has a centre console that mimics a sail's boom, a wide two-tone dashboard, and a multifunctional steering wheel with a flat bottom.
Other prominent interior features include a panoramic glass roof, a touchscreen entertainment unit set in the center console, a head-up display, a driver-configurable digital instrument cluster, a wine cooler located between the back seats, and more. The inside of the automobile was created using semi-aniline leather, carbon fibre, and charcoal leather, according to the firm.
Pininfarina PURA Vision: Powertrain
The production vehicle is expected to include an all-electric drivetrain. However, no mechanical details have been published by the company as of yet. More information about the film is expected to be released at the worldwide premiere.
If Pininfarina decides to produce it, it will compete with vehicles such as the Audi Q8 e-tron, BMW iX and Volvo EX90.
