Porsche had previously stated that a hybrid 911 sports car would be released in 2024. Porsche will commence a whole new era on May 28 when they reveal the first-ever 911 Hybrid to the world. Porsche has also revealed official photographs and said that engineers and test drivers covered almost 50 lakh kilometres during the new model's development and testing.

The new model has undergone rigorous testing right from the extreme cold of the Arctic Circle with the final phase of testing being taken place in the boiling temperatures of the United Arab Emirates. Porsche obviously also put a lot of kilometres around the Nurburgring Nordschleife as well where Porsche brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister completed a lap of the circuit in 7:16.934 minutes â€" 8.7 seconds faster than the corresponding version of the predecessor model.

According to the release confirming the hybrid 911, the test car included an aero package that included a fixed rear wing for additional downforce.

Very little is known about the 911 hybrid. The hybrid 911 is believed to use a 48-volt starting motor with its dual-clutch transmission, with an electric motor powering the front wheels, resulting in an all-wheel drive powertrain. The motor is supposed to be powered by a compact lithium-ion battery pack hidden under the front seats.

The revised 911 (992.2) has been spotted with a new front fascia with louvred intakes, as well as redesigned headlights and taillights. The indicators too seem to be incorporated into updated headlamp assemblies with a new visual style. Porsche also plans to utilize more ecologically friendly materials in its forthcoming vehicles, such as the inside of the all-electric Macan.

Frank Moser, Vice President of Model Line 911 and 718 said "For the first time in our icon's 61-year history, we are installing a hybrid drive system in a roadgoing 911. This innovative performance hybrid makes the 911 even more dynamic. Whether at a high drivetrain load in the demanding conditions of mountain passes or in the stop-and-go traffic of an urban environment, the new 911 has mastered even the most difficult challenges with aplomb. All in all, our engineers and test drivers clocked up more than five million kilometres of development driving."
