Porsche India records a 118 percent growth in first half of 2022
German sports cars marque Porsche sold 378 vehicles in India between January and June 2022, marking the greatest first-half sales total ever. Compared to the same time in 2021, when the company supplied 173 units, it had a sales rise of 118 percent.
It is noteworthy that Porsche sold more cars in the first half of 2022 than it did in any of the previous three years combined. The sales increase between January and December 2021 was the biggest ever, and 474 vehicles were delivered during that time.
The introduction of Porsche's all-electric Taycan and high demand for SUVs kept sales brisk during the first half of the year, with the Taycan coming in second with 37 units, followed by the 167 Cayenne and 125 Macan. Porsche's legendary 911 Coup sold 27 copies, while the spacious limousine Panamera brought in 19 sales.
Earlier this year, Porsche opened two new showrooms in Chennai and Bangalore. It now has plans to quickly build two additional new dealerships around the nation.
Manolito Vujicic, Brand Director, Porsche India said the figures are an encouraging sign that the industry is recovering with demand for high-end sports cars returning to pre-pandemic levels: "July marks 10 years of Porsche India serving this region and there's no better way to acknowledge this than with our best ever half year sales performance for the first half of 2022.
