Price Comparison: Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Vs Hyundai Creta Vs Skoda Kushaq Vs Kia Seltos Vs Volkswagen Taigun Vs MG Astor
This is what we all have been waiting for the most. The mid-size SUV segment is taking over the country and the competition is heating up drastically. Now that the biggest player in India has joined this competition, all the other automakers will have to level up their game. The eagerly awaited Grand Vitara finally has a pricetag on them, the Seltos, Kushaq, Creta, Taigun and Astor are in for a fierce battle. Let's see which of these SUVs demand the biggest bills and which has the best opening bid.
Maruti Suzuki has officially launched the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara in India, with prices starting from Rs 10.45 lakh and rising all the way up to Rs 19.49 lakh. It will be collaboratively developed with Toyota and will be produced at the latter's facility in Karnataka with its sibling vehicle, the Hyryder SUV.
The hybrid powertrain is a 1.5-litre TNGA Atkinson Cycle engine from Toyota that produces 92PS and 122 Nm of torque. It is combined with an electric motor that produces 79PS and 141 Nm of torque. The hybrid powertrain produces 115PS in total when combined with an eCVT transmission. The Grand Vitara offers a 25km all-electric range, just like the Hyryder. This engine option's 27.97 kmpl fuel economy has been verified by Maruti.
The 1.5-liter K15C mild-hybrid engine from Maruti Suzuki is also available with the Grand Vitara. It first appeared on the facelifted Ertiga and XL6 and more recently on the new Brezza. It produces 104PS and 117 Nm of torque. The engine will be available with Suzuki's All-Grip AWD technology and mated to either a 6-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission with paddle shifters.
The Kia Seltos range starts from Rs 10.49 lakh and rises all the way up to Rs 18.65 lakh while the Hyundai Creta base model is priced at Rs 10.44 lakh and its top model is priced at Rs 18.24 lakh.
The Seltos and Creta are available in two petrol and one diesel engine option. The 1.5-litre Smartstream petrol engine produces 113PS and 144Nm of torque. This engine is available in six-speed manual, six-speed iMT, and IVT transmission options. The 1.4-litre Turbo-GDi petrol engine generates 138PS and 242Nm of torque. The Turbo engine is available with a six-speed manual and 7DCT option.
There's also a diesel engine in the form of a 1.5-litre CRDi VGT that generates 113PS and 250Nm of torque. This engine is available in a six-speed manual, iMT, and automatic torque converter.
The Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun offer 2 engine choices which include a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder TSI petrol engine producing 115Ps and 178Nm of torque, as well as a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, TSI petrol engine producing 150PS and 250Nm of torque. A six-speed manual unit is standard while the 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre versions get a six-speed automatic unit and a seven-speed DSG automatic unit as an option, respectively.
The Taigun starts at Rs 11.39 lakh and rises up to Rs 18.59 lakh while the Kushaq range starts from Rs 11.29 lakh and goes up to Rs 19.49 lakh.
Finally the MG Astor is powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder NA petrol engine and a 1.3-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. The latter, which produces 140PS and 220Nm of torque, is offered only with a six-speed torque converter automatic unit. The former is tuned to produce 110PS and 144Nm of torque, and is offered with a six-speed manual unit or a CVT unit.
The Astor has the cheapest base price here at Rs 10.31 lakh and a top-of-the-line Astor is priced at Rs 18.22 lakh.
