Skoda Elroq makes global debut
Czech Republic-based Skoda Auto has pulled the wraps off the Elroq EV. The electric SUV is said to be an all-electric equivalent of the Karoq and sits below the Enyaq iV.
Skoda Elroq Design & Interior
Based on the Volkswagen Group's MEB platform, the Elroq features a distinct yet familiar design language. It bears a minimalistic styling with a tech-deck face, as called by the brand. There is a closed-off grille integrated with lights, LED headlamps, air inlets by adjoining the headlight unit, V-pattern rear lights, a strong shoulder line, slightly slanting roofline, and a silhouette that of a Skoda SUV. The Elroq has become the first Skoda model to debut the new Skoda logo, which comprises letters instead of the round badge. Not only that, the EV is drag co-efficient of 0.26.
On the inside, the cabin, especially the dashboard, takes inspiration from the new Superb and Kodiaq. The similar design layout with a dual-tone theme and minimalist design, also brings a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a small and fully digital driver's display, a new steering wheel, a wireless charging pad, and a teensy-weensy gear selector, among others.
The Elroq, being an EV, utilises sustainable materials for its interior trims, such as the upholstery is made from recycled PET bottles, plus recycled polyester and the use of nylon sourced from fishing nets. Additionally, the interior offers up to 48-litre storage capacity, while the boot can carry up to 470-litre.
Skoda Elroq Powertrain
The EV comes in a variety of trim levels in the international markets, featuring different battery each. First up, the base trim gets a 55kWh battery pack with a 170PS/310Nm electric motor and a WLTP range of 370km, then there is a 63kWh unit with a 204PS/310Nm electric motor and a range of up to 385km, and lastly, Skoda offers 82kWh battery pack with 285PS/545Nm electric motor and a claimed range of over 560km. Top speed varies between 160-180kmph depending on the trim.
