Skoda Rapid Rider relaunched in India, priced at Rs 7.79 lakh
The base variant of the Skoda Rapid, the Rapid Rider has been relaunched in India at Rs 7.79 lakh. The Rapid Rider had seen immense demand when it was first launched with the updated Skoda Rapid BSVI lineup leading Skoda India to curtail bookings for the variant until the order backlog was met. Now with production having caught up with demand, the variant has been reintroduced, albeit at a Rs 30,000 premium.
The Rapid Rider is available in two paint options - Candy White and Carbon Steel. The white Rider gets contrasting black body trim with silver highlights for the Carbon Steel version. Notable features on the Rapid Rider are rear parking sensors, climate control, a 2DIN audio system, all four power windows with a one-touch up/down function, electrically adjustable outer mirrors, steel wheels, stainless steel scuff plates, ABS and 2 airbags.
The Skoda Rapid Rider is powered by the same 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol as the rest of the Skoda Rapid range, making 110PS and 175 Nm. This motor pairs with only a six-speed manual in this variant, those wanting the new six-speed torque converter will have to chose the Rapid Rider Plus. The Rider Plus adds two more paint options, a spruced up interior, exterior chrome highlights and a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Although sized similarly to sedans like the Honda City and Hyundai Verna, the Rapid BSVI is priced closer to offerings in the premium hatch and sub-four-metre sedan segments. Know how the Rapid fares against the City and Verna here.
