Skoda Slavia and Kushaq now get 6 airbags as standard

After securing a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP, the Skoda Slavia and Kushaq will now have 6 airbags as standard on all variants. Simultaneously, the prices of both cars have also been increased slightly with the Kushaq now starting from Rs 11.99 lakh to Rs 19.79 lakh and the Slavia from Rs 11.63 lakh to Rs 18.83 lakh (ex-showroom).

Previously, the manufacturer included frontal airbags with the base-spec variations of the cars, while higher variants had six airbags. Skoda now offers 6 airbags as standard from the Active up to the top-end Style variants.

Global NCAP rates both the Kushaq and Slavia as 5-star vehicles. Other safety features on both models include standard ESC, a multi-collision braking system, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), brake assist, and traction control.

The sedan and SUV will continue to offer the same powertrain options. These include a 1.0-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder petrol engine with 115PS and 178 Nm of torque. The vehicles also receive a more popular and more performance-oriented 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which produces a remarkable 150PS and 250 Nm of torque. A 6-speed manual is standard but the 1.0-litre is also offered with a 6-speed torque converter while the more powerful engine can be had with a 7-speed DSG.

The Slavia faces competition from the likes of the Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus and Honda City. The Kushaq on the other hand takes on many other cars in the overpopulated mid-size SUV segment like the Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Honda Elevate.
