Skoda Slavia facelift spotted undergoing testing; ADAS tech set to be added?
A Skoda Slavia test mule was sighted testing in Pune and the car was heavily camouflaged indicating an updated model is in the works. Skoda and Volkswagen have done well with vehicles based on the MQB AO IN platform and could now benefit from a mid-cycle facelift.
Skoda Slavia facelift: Exterior and Interior
The general silhouette of the Slavia appears familiar, with its classic sedan-like proportions and very high ride height. The photographs show LED tail lamp clusters and a shark fin antenna. We can also partially see a new set of alloy wheels that appear black.
Currently, Skoda cars require feature upgrades while remaining price competitive. Rivals like the Hyundai Verna offer a lot more in terms of features at this price point and one of the major topics of discussion is the whole suite of level 2 ADAS tech. We presume that Skoda won't hold back on some of these new features and will load up the Slavia facelift with more than the current model.
Currently, the Slavias' feature list consists of a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a two-spoke steering wheel, a fully- digital instrument cluster, touch-based automatic climate control, a wireless charger, front ventilated seats, and cruise control.
Skoda Slavia facelift: Powertrain
As a mid-life refresh, the Slavia facelift is likely to retain the same engine lineup: a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol with 115PS and 178Nm, and a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol with 150PS and 250Nm. There will be three transmission options: 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
The sedan in its pre-facelift model is available in Active, Ambition and Style variants. Currently priced from Rs 11.63 lakh to Rs 19.12 lakh (ex-showroom), we expect Skoda Auto India to jack up that price slightly upon the arrival of the updated model.
