The introduction of the BYD Atto 3 means that we have another electric SUV in the mix. The MG ZS EV has been long-standing in this segment and even longer than that has been the Hyundai Kona. While we are still unsure about the Atto 3's pricing, we are pretty sure that will be in the similar ballpark as the other 2 on this list. Let's take a closer look at how these 3 SUV's take on each other in the electric space.

While the BYD Atto 3 is bigger than the others in length and width, it is shorter than the MG ZS EV. The BYD also has a marginally longer wheelbase, while boot capacity stands at 440 litres, the MG ZS EV at 470 litres and Hyundai Kona 332 litres.
The BYD also looks the sharpest with its sleek design and bold styling. The MG ZS EV also has the looks with sharp lines but that front fascia might throw some off. As for the Hyundai Kona, there isn't much to say, as its been here for a while and its all very bulky looking.

The BYD Atto 3 is based on BYD's e-Platform 3.0 which has been designed specifically for electric vehicles. It continues to use the company's proprietary Blade LFP battery technology for its 60 kWh battery pack that gives it a WLTP range of 420Km and an ARAI-rated range of 521 km. Powering this EV is a 204PS and 310Nm electric motor on the front axle which gets it from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.3s. The top speed is limited to 160 kmph.
The 2022 MG ZS EV gets a 50.3 kWh pack with a more powerful electric motor putting out 176PS. The ARAI-certified range has gone up to 461 km. The 2022 MG ZS EV with 176PS and 280Nm can do 0 to 100 kmph in 8.5s.
The Hyundai Kona produces a mere 136PS and 395Nm. It has a 39.2 kWh battery pack that powers the front 2 wheels.

Notable features in the BYD Atto 3 include a panoramic sunroof, a rotatable 15.6-inch touchscreen, OTA updates, Dirac audio, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, NFC key card, wireless charging and a powered tailgate. There is also a full suite of ADAS functions like adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, rear cross-traffic alerts and avoidance, and front collision avoidance among other things. There is also 360-degree cameras and 7 airbags.
The centre console of the MG houses a rotary gear shifter, the drive mode and regen level switches and larger storage spaces. Feature highlights are the new 10.1-inch touchscreen with the AI assistant, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, powered seats, panoramic sunroof, e-brake, heated ORVM, rain-sensing wipers, PM2.5 filter, front and rear armrests and a Bluetooth-operated digital key for locking/unlocking and starting the ZS EV. The 2022 ZS EV also gets some advanced safety features, although not the full Level 2 ADAS capability. This includes lane change assist, blindspot detection and rear cross-traffic alert. Passive safety features that may be offered are a 360-degree camera, traction control, hill-descent control, ABS with EBD and 6 airbags.
Some standout features on offer with the Kona Electric are a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, voice command recognition, wireless charger, dual-zone climate control, front ventilated and heated seats, 10-way power driver seat, 8-speaker KRELL audio system, heads-up display, electric sunroof, and cruise control. It also gets safety features like 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, blind spot detection and autonomous emergency braking.
