Spec comparison: Mercedes Benz EQA vs BMW iX1 vs Volvo XC40 Recharge

Mercedes Benz India has officially announced the EQA for the Indian market and the version of the car that we will be receiving is the EQA 250+. This new entry-level Merc EV will go up against the likes of the BMW iX1 and Volvo XC40 Recharge. Let's take a look at how these cars compare against each other.

The EQA 250+ is powered by a single motor that produces 190PS and 385Nm of torque. It features a 70.5kWh battery onboard and has a range of up to 560km (WLTP). The car can sprint from a standstill to 100kmph in 8.6 seconds and has a top speed of 160kmph. Mercedes also claims that using a 100kW DC charger, the EQA can go from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 35 minutes.

The BMW iX1 is powered by a 66.4kWh battery pack and a dual-motor setup that delivers 313PS and 494Nm of torque. It offers a WLTP-rated range of 440km. BMW claims it can go from 0 to 100kmph in 5.6 seconds. The iX1's charging options include a 130 kW DC charger that can take it from 10 to 80 percent charge in 29 minutes.

On the other hand, the Volvo XC40 Recharge boasts a larger 78kWh battery pack and a two-motor setup producing 408PS and 660Nm of torque. It offers a competitive range of 505km on a single charge (WLTP) and supports a 150 kW DC fast charger, delivering a quick 10 to 80 per cent charge in just 28 minutes. The Volvo can sprint from 0 to 100 in 4.9 seconds. Volvo also offers a single-motor 69kWh battery setup with 238PS and 420Nm of torque.

On the inside, the EQA's dash is largely a carryover from the GLA. The new Mercedes-Benz EQA will include twin 10.25-inch displays, a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, a head-up display, a 360-degree camera, dual-zone climate controls, the newest MBUX system, a wireless charger and a Burmester-sourced audio system.

In terms of features, the iX1 gets a 10.25-inch driver display, a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Veganza vegan leather upholstery, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, adaptive headlights, dual-zone temperature control, a panoramic sunroof, connected car tech, adaptive suspension, powered front seats with memory and massage functions, cruise control, multicolour ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, BMW digital key plus, USB Type-C charging ports, and a Harman Kardon 12-speaker sound system, lane departure warning, front collision warning, among others.

The XC40 Recharge is equipped with an Android-based nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, 360deg camera, Type-C ports, 12.3-inch driver display, ADAS, wireless phone charging, air purifier, telematics, connected car tech, powered front seats with driver-side memory, HSA, HDC, TPMS, a Harman Kardon sound system.

Mercedes Benz EQA vs BMW iX1 vs Volvo XC40 Recharge: Pricing

The Mercedes EQA 250+ price will be announced on July 8. The BMW iX1 is priced at Rs 66.90 lakh (ex-showroom) while the Volvo XC40 Recharge P8 AWD is priced at Rs 57.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The Volvo XC40 Single (single motor) is priced at a slightly affordable Rs 54.95 lakh (ex-showroom).
