Spy shots reveal interior of the upcoming Kia Sonet facelift
Kia is preparing to unveil the Sonet facelift in India, and fresh photographs reveal the future small SUV's appearance and interior. The revised sub-4-metre SUV is likely to be introduced by the Korean manufacturer in early 2024. The popular Kia Sonet small SUV is getting a big revamp, including alloy wheels, LED taillights, and a new grille.
Kia Sonet facelift: Design
From what is visible, the Sonet facelift will get new 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. Also, the small SUV has updated LED head and tail-lights that resemble those found on the new Seltos. Kia is also anticipated to offer a redesigned grille and new bumper designs.
The car seen in the above images might not necessarily be the top trim. This is because it lacks the front camera and ADAS technology that are almost certainly available with higher-end versions. The Sonet's cousin, the Hyundai Venue already offers ADAS on its top variant. Read more about that here.
Kia Sonet facelift: Powertrain
The original 83PS and 115Nm, 1.2-litre petrol engine, the 120PS and 172Nm, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, and a 116PS and 250Nm, 1.5-litre diesel engine are anticipated to be retained in the Sonet facelift.
The petrol engine is likely to be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, while the turbo-petrol and diesel engines will continue to use the 6-speed iMT. They will also receive a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and a 6-speed automatic, respectively.
Kia Sonet facelift: Interior and Features
The facelifted Sonet's overall dashboard layout is the same as the current model, with a floating 10-inch infotainment touchscreen system. However, there are minor changes we can discern, such as a revised control panel for climate control.
Other than that, there seems to be a new fully digital instrument cluster, shared with Hyundai Venue. Rear windows now get a built-in sliding sun shade which is a segment-first feature. Bits such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car tech, sunroof, wireless phone charger, a Bose sound system, ventilated front seats and cruise control should be carried forward.
Additionally, the Sonet also gets a new brown colour for the upholstery which makes the cabin a slightly more luxurious touch.
Keeping in mind Kia India just recently launched the facelifted Seltos, we expect them to launch the updated Sonet only next year, and it will rival the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger. Currently the Kia Sonet range starts from Rs 7.79 lakh.
