Suzuki eWX patented in India
Maruti Suzuki has patented the eWX concept electric vehicle (EV) in India. Showcased at the 2023 Tokyo Motor Show, the eWX concept is a Kei car for the Japanese market and is expected to arrive in the country in the coming years.
The Maruti Suzuki eWX, based on the patented image, retains the design elements of the concept showcased in 2023. It features a boxy tallboy design. The eWX measures 3,395mm in length, 1,475mm in width and 1,620mm in height, making it slightly shorter, narrower, and lower than the WagonR. It incorporates air curtains in the bumper, a closed-off grille with an illuminated Suzuki logo, unique wheels, C-shaped daytime running lights and taillamps, rectangular inserts on the bumper, door panels, B- and C-pillars, and eye-catching colour accents.
The interior of the eWX appears to be in a very conceptual stage. It features a large display in the centre acting as an instrument cluster and infotainment system. Key highlights of the cabin include a two-spoke steering wheel, a floating centre console that houses the gear selector, electronic parking brake, and window switches, and a minimalist dashboard with physical air condition control buttons. Overall, the interior has a rectangular theme paired with eye-catching color accents.
Although the powertrain specifications are unavailable, we expect it to come with a battery pack of 30-40kWh, offering a range of up to 250km. There is likely to be a single electric motor at the front axle. In terms of charging, the entry-level EV may support up to 11kW AC Type-2 and up to 60-80kW DC CCS2 standards.
While we await more details of the eWX, Maruti will introduce its first electric offering in India early next year, the eVX, a compact electric SUV.
