Suzuki to supply its new EV to Toyota globally
Suzuki Motor Corporation and Toyota Motor Corporation have further extended their collaboration into the electric mobility sector. As part of this expanded partnership, Suzuki will supply its upcoming electric SUV to Toyota, with production set to begin in Spring 2025.
Toyota's version of this electric vehicle (EV) will also be manufactured at the same facility. The new EV, named the eVX, is being developed collaboratively by Suzuki, Toyota, and Daihatsu Motor Corporation. This jointly developed model will be available globally, including in the Indian market. Suzuki will supply the electric SUV to Toyota both domestically and for international markets.
The eVX will be built on a new EV-specific platform that supports a four-wheel-drive system and is expected to offer a range of over 500km with a battery capacity between 50-70kWh. Both the Suzuki and Toyota versions are likely to support fast charging up to 80kW and Type-2 AC charging up to 7.2kW. Additional features like V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) and V2L (vehicle-to-load) capabilities are also expected.
This partnership will allow both companies to optimize costs and production efficiency by sharing resources, technology, and production facilities. By leveraging economies of scale, Suzuki and Toyota aim to make their electric vehicles more affordable and accessible to a broader range of consumers.
