Switch Mobility EiV12 and E1 Breaks Cover
Switch Mobility Ltd has unveiled the Switch EiV12, the brand's contemporary electric bus platform along with the E1. The EiV12 features a scalable battery capacity of over 400+ kWh. The Switch E1 is engineered for the international markets and was launched virtually. Both models share the same EV architecture.
The Switch EiV 12 claims a range of 312 km on a full charge which takes less than 2 hours if done through a DC fast charging setup. The permanent magnet synchronous AC motor puts out a good 320 PS of maximum power and 190 PS of continuous power.
It runs on 22.5-inch steel wheels with drum brakes at the rear and disc brakes up front. The Switch EiV12 is 12,000 mm long, 2550 mm wide, 3,500 mm tall with a wheelbase of 6320 mm and 400 mm of floor height.
It has a seating of 39 people and a standing capacity of 69 people. The suspension setup includes air suspension for the front and rear axle with kneeling mechanism. It means that the bus can reduce its height for easy ingress and egress of the passengers.
The company says that the design of the bus caters to women, senior citizens and differently abled passengers and thus has functions that makes the commute easier for the above-mentioned categories. There is a ramp as well that extends itself for wheelchair application.
In terms of safety, the Switch EiV12 gets multi-level battery protection, fire detection system, five CCTV cameras for complete bus monitoring, Automatic Passenger Counting System (APC) and SOS buttons to name a few.
The platform is scalable in terms of battery capacity and the layout can be customised according to the use case, in India it will be Right-Hand Drive and for international markets it can be changed to Left-Hand Drive on the same assembly line.
