Gajanan Kashikar Updated: May 09, 2023, 03:58 PM IST

Tata Altroz iCNG India launch is probably just around the corner. The carmaker also recently commenced the bookings for Rs 21,000. Ahead of its launch, the Altroz CNG has even started arriving at various dealerships across the country. On the other hand, a recently leaked broacher revealed fresh details about the CNG-powered hatchback. Meanwhile, we expect Tata to start deliveries of the Altroz CNG soon after the launch.

Tata Altroz iCNG: Powertrain

Unlike a single 60-litre tank of CNG, the Altroz iCNG features two separate 30-litre CNG tanks. This twin-tank setup is located under the boot floor. As a result, it offers more space for luggage, reportedly up to 210 litres.

Powering the Altroz CNG is a 1.2-litre, inline three-cylinder, naturally aspirated Revotron petrol engine delivering 88PS and 115Nm of torque. It is likely to generate 77PS and 97Nm of torque in the CNG mode. Paired with this motor is a five-speed manual gearbox.

Tata Altroz iCNG: Variants and Colours

According to a recently leaked brucher, the automaker will offer the Altroz iCNG in six variant options: XE, XM+, XM+ (S), XZ, XZ+ (S), and XZ+ O (S). While the petrol and diesel versions of the Altroz come with seven colour options, the CNG version will be available with four paints: Opera Blue, Downtown Red, Arcade Grey, and Avenue White.

Tata Altroz iCNG: Features

One of the highlights of the Altroz iCNG could be the direct start feature in the CNG mode that is available with the Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG. It is also expected to benefit from a micro switch function and single ECU.

On top of that, the three variants of the Altroz iCNG, as per the leaked broacher, to get an electric sunroof. Also on offer will be a wireless charging pad. Other features of the CNG-powered hatchback will comprise cruise control, iRA connected car features, seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, rear wiper and washer, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, sliding front armrest, digital instrument cluster, cooled glove box, auto headlamps and wipers, and engine start/stop switch, among others.

Tata Altroz iCNG: Prices and Rivals

We expect the upcoming CNG-powered hatchback to attract a higher premium over the standard petrol and diesel-powered Altroz. Upon launch, it will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno CNG and Toyota Glanza CNG.
