Tata Curvv unveiled; launch slated for 2 Sept
Tata Motors revealed the Curvv ICE alongside the Curvv EV in India earlier today. While the prices of the EV have been announced, the petrol and diesel versions will be launched on 2 September. And the bookings for the coupe crossover will open on 12 August. It will be available in four variants: Smart, Pure, Creative, and Accomplished. The new Curvv uses a new ATLAS platform, which can accommodate petrol, diesel, and electric powertrains.
Tata Curvv: Engine specifications
Powering the Curvv will be three engine options, starting with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol producing 120PS/170Nm, 1.5-litre diesel that makes 118PS/260Nm, and a new 1.2-litre TGDi turbo-petrol engine generating 125PS/225Nm. All three motors will come mated to a six-speed manual and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The new 1.2-litre TGDi Hyperion engine features a high pressure direct fuel injection system and electrically actuated variable geometry turbocharger. It also claimed to have the highest torque density per litre. For the first time, the six-speed manual gearbox offered in the market gets Artificial Intelligence (AI) based smart shift to manage revs. Similarly, the 1.5-litre Kryojet diesel gets a new turbocharger and air inlet, offering a mileage of 22.4kmpl. Plus, it does not need a differential.
Tata Curvv: Features
The Curvv and Curvv EV share similar features, but the EV gets some additional features like the Nexon EV. Tata has upgraded the blind spot display, which now shows in the digital instrument cluster. Then, the Arcade.EV now gets new apps, such as Park Plus, Spotify, Amazon Music, Amazon Audible, and a new game.
Other features include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10-25-inch all-digital cluster, a panoramic sunroof, nine-speaker, 320-watt sound system with a subwoofer; What3words support, six regional voice assistant languages, paddle shifters, ventilated seats, electric parking brake with auto hold, multicolour ambient lighting, headlight and rear lights welcome and goodbye animations, flush door handles with illumination, powered boot opening with gestured control function, air purifier with AQI, new iRA app, telematics with SOS, 360deg camera, wireless charging pad, 45W USB Type-C, hill hold control, hill descent control, ESP, six airbags, cooled glovebox, TPMS, front parking sensors, and Level 2 autonomy with 20 functions, among others.
